For those with big families, Weststar Maxus is now offering a people-mover in the form of the G10 MPV. Priced from RM139,888, the G10 MPV (which is said to have British heritage) is presented as a versatile family vehicle with space for up to 10 persons inside. In other countries, it is also available as a commercial vehicle.
The 5.2-metre long vehicle comes equipped with full leather seats and a comprehensive list of equipment. These include Inside cruise control, dual-zone air-conditioning system with a separate rear unit, moon roof, 6-speaker audio system, keyless entry with pushstart ignition and a reverse camera.
The safety features fulfil the European MPV passive safety standards. These include dual airbags and ABS/EBD. Power comes from a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol 4-cylinder engine with 225 bhp/345 Nm which goes through a 6-speed automatic transmission with manual mode.
Weststar Maxus plans to sell 500 units of the MPV which is imported from China. It already has 120 orders which the company sees as a positive sign of its acceptance by Malaysian buyers. Later in the year, there are plans to also assemble the model locally which should provide some price reduction with government incentives. And when the ASEAN content reaches the required 40% level, the model can be exported to other ASEAN markets with no import duty imposed as per the AFTA agreement. This is expected to commence in 2017.
